Preparing for PTE for Australia from Zimbabwe starts with identifying the visa requirement that applies to you. Home Affairs changed its approved English-test score requirements from 7 August 2025. An overall score alone does not establish Competent, Proficient or Superior English.
Scores for tests taken from 7 August 2025
Minimum PTE Academic scores, in Listening / Reading / Writing / Speaking order: Competent English: 47 / 48 / 51 / 54. Proficient English: 58 / 59 / 69 / 76. Superior English: 69 / 70 / 85 / 88. Each skill must meet its own minimum. These are English proficiency categories; whether points apply depends on your visa and points test.
Older results and other application types
The older equal-skill targets of 50, 65 and 79 belong to the pre-7 August 2025 tables. Some older results remain usable subject to visa-specific validity rules. Student, work and family applications have their own requirements and exemptions; do not transfer skilled-migration targets to another visa. Professional registration may also require different scores. Check the official page for your exact application before booking.
Prepare around your weakest required skill
Build a study plan from your current responses and required scores. Cover all current task types, including Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation. Use relevant content, clear delivery and accurate language; a memorised template cannot guarantee a result. Practice scores can help track progress but are estimates. Coach Greens can help you focus preparation on the skills that need the most work.
