PTE preparation for migration in Zimbabwe should start with the country, visa and test version required. PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, PTE Home and PTE Core have different uses. Do not assume that acceptance for one application means acceptance for another or for professional registration.
Use the correct test version
PTE Academic is used for eligible Australian and New Zealand applications and many study purposes. Where a UK route requires a four-skill secure English test, check PTE Academic UKVI and the approved-centre rules; other UK routes may have different requirements. Canadian Express Entry accepts PTE Core, not PTE Academic. Always check the relevant official application page before booking.
Set current skill targets
Australian Competent, Proficient and Superior English requirements changed for PTE tests taken from 7 August 2025. They use different minimums for individual skills, rather than a blanket 50, 65 or 79. University admission, visas and professional registration can each require different evidence. Confirm the requirement that applies to your test date and application before deciding on your preparation target.
Practise for the current format
For PTE Academic, include Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation as well as the existing tasks. Develop relevant content, comprehension, clear speech and accurate writing. Practice-platform results are estimates, and no fixed preparation period guarantees an official score.
